What is mindfulness?

Updated: Jun 7, 2021

Mindfulness is a contemporary path to a more fulfilling life that is open to all of us. It promotes serenity, balance and physical well-being.

DK, Mindfulness, an introduction

Mindfulness is the wisdom of living in the present, of being present and mindful.

Mindfulness has many facets. Simply put, it means not living in the memory of the past, or in desire and uncertainty about the future, but being mindful of the present moment and remaining aware of it. At the same time, mindfulness is nothing at all, nothing but a rediscovery or a remembering of our natural, inborn capacity to be fully awake in our lives, in contact with things in a direct way withought the filters of concepts, past experiences, or likes and dislikes.

Being mindful is the process of being aware of the present moment, of focusing on the object of attention and of being actively and consciously aware of it's nature without any judgement .

Many people appear to be doing something here and now, but in fact they are living in another world in their minds, in imaginary problems and miseries. As a result, they do not live in the work they are currently doing, nor do they really enjoy doing it. Therefore, they are dissatisfied and unhappy with their present situation, and are naturally unable to give their whole being to the work they are currently doing.

Mindfulness can change your life. This can be achieved by regularly doing short mindfulness meditations and becoming aware of any deep-rooted thought patterns that have prevented you from experiencing life in all its fullness.
